01 · For businesses
Jigs and fixtures, made to your part.
Clean Layers makes jigs and fixtures that hold, locate or check a part. Send the part, or a file of it, and we make a sample for you to approve.
02 · What should you send for jigs and fixtures?
What should you send for jigs and fixtures?
Send the part the jig or fixture has to hold, locate or check, and say how it will be used. Tell us the fit you need, how many you need and when you need them, and say if it has to match a colour you already use.
A design file is the clearest brief. We take STL, 3MF and STEP, and a PDF, DXF or a sized sketch is fine when that's what you have. If you haven't decided some of this yet, just say so and we'll work it out with you.
Read what happens after you send a brief for the steps after you send it.
03 · How do sampling and repeat runs work?
How do sampling and repeat runs work?
We make a sample for you to approve before the full run. The sample is the one that has to fit your part, so check the fit before you approve it. We keep your files, so a repeat order is made to the same design.
04 · What size can a jig or fixture be?
What size can a jig or fixture be?
A single part can be up to 256 x 256 x 260 mm, and larger pieces, such as the giant props we've made, are built from joined sections.
05 · What are jigs and fixtures printed in?
What are jigs and fixtures printed in?
We print in PLA Matte and PLA Pure. PLA starts to soften at about 55°C. Tell us which documents you need with the parts.
There's more on heat, sun and washing in how to look after a PLA piece. We sign NDAs, so say if you need one when you send the brief.
You'll find production runs and the rest of the work for businesses on prototype and production printing. If the piece is for testing a design rather than holding one, see prototype parts.
